About us at Blue Guru Diving
Blue Guru Diving is a diving & eco-tourism entity. Previously based in the lively coastal town of Khuraburi we are now based by the beach near Hornbill Hill, within the confines for Golden Buddha Beach Resort.
Our passion is for ecodiving and other sustainable tourist practices on Koh Phra Thong. We have seen so many other locations become consumed by commercialism that we are determined to assist in providing a bright future for this paradise island.
Blue Guru is especially pleased with the formative scuba diving training of local boys Tam and Thoom during the 2009-10 season. Having lived on Koh Phra Thong all their lives it was amazing to find out that they had never visited the Surin Islands before and even more amazing to watch their faces light up as they discovered the underwater landscape there. It was a moving day for all involved and justified our efforts out here on the frontier. We remain committed to providing training for them to Divemaster level over the next season and beyond.
Research Diving and DM Internship
For 2011-2012 season, Blue Guru will be continuing local reef assessments and embarking on some restoration work in Tsunami affected areas. Addtionally, we will be running a host of research diving trips in the seagrass and mangrove areas between Koh Phra Thong and Ko Ra. This is an exciting opportunity for more experienced divers or anyone involved in marine conservation.
We operate a Divemaster internship program which is directed towards candidates who have an interest in the broad diversity of marine life around this very special island in the Andaman Sea. There are four intakes per season. The next program start in November 2011 and numbers are strictly limited. Join us for the experience of a lifetime.
