Blue Guru at Koh Phra Thong
Blue Guru Diving is the only PADI dive centre in the area and the closest to world renowned Richelieu Rock.
Over the last few seasons we have been investigating rumours of new exciting dive sites along this part of the Andaman Coast. We now have 5 exciting Offshore dive sites for your exploration.
Intrepid scuba divers will love our Andaman Offshore locations. There are both reef and boulder sites and occasionally we see big fish such as large nurse sharks!
What is Koh Phra Thong?
Koh Phra Thong is one of Thailand's last unspoiled coastal locations. With over 15km of largely uninhabited white sandy beaches. The island is relatively large with a total area of around 100km.
Where is Koh Phra Thong?
Koh Phra Thong is located in the Andaman Sea off the west coast of southern Thailand. The closest town is the port town of Khuraburi, situated on the mainland about 10km east. It is the middle link in a chain of 3 islands. It is about 550km south of Bangkok and 100km north of Phuket.
Phra Thong Offshore Boat
The scuba diving at the offshore Koh Phra Thong sites are available directly by a 30min boat ride on 'Lazy Frog' from our base at Golden Buddha Bay on Koh Phra Thong.
About 'Lazy Frog'
'Lazy Frog' is our custom built dive boat. She is based on a traditional 'lobster boat' and has a double berth, electric toilet and enclosed kitchen & dining area
She is large enough for 6 divers to travel to our exclusive Andaman Offshore sites in comfort and style.
Sometimes we will have to run the Andaman Offshore Diving trips by longtail boat due to other commitments for 'Lazy Frog'.
In this case the price of the trip is reduced by 500 Bt per diver.
Andaman Offshore Schedule
These trips will be scheduled twice a week during high season November - April, subject to demand. We can also schedule it on demand for a minimum of two divers.
Offshore tour itinerary
8.30am depart Blue Guru Diving
9.00am arrive first offshore site
9.30am 1st Dive
10.30am exit the water
11.30pm drive to 2nd offshore site
12.00pm 2nd dive
1.00pm exit the water
1.30pm arrive back at Koh Phra Thong
Andaman Offshore dive sites start below 12m (going down to 26m) at low tide. The minimum depth rises to 14m at high tide. We try to schedule the dives so that lunch coincides with peak low tide. This allows us to minimise effects of currents and to give our divers a longer diver time due reduced Nitrogen effects
The itinerary featured is for illustrative purposes only. Based on factors mentioned above, the departure/arrival time and the surface interval may be quite different - though the trip will always start before 12pm.
